There is beauty in the in-between.
————
Our world is bursting at the seams with binaries and polarized thinking. We see in black and white, good and bad, right and wrong. I’m finding it exhausting to navigate, and in certain moments it’s leaving my system feeling isolated, raw, and without hope. My focal interest in these last few months has been a curiosity of how to move through the moments that feel so all-or-nothing and reframe that experience as it’s happening. The first step in that is remembering that there are so many more tones between the black and the white. In fact, it’s where most of the interesting things happen. In this [massive and ever expanding] in-between space, there is room for the fluidity — the movement of shapes, sounds, rhythms, opinions, gender, politics… The place between the binary is the place where real freedom, connection, and beauty are thriving.
