Guitar Straps and Gentle Days
I have three whitetail deer hides from last season's harvest - they're salted and bagged, preserved for now but ready for tanning!
Each guitar/bass strap that I make is a cut from the center spine of a fresh hide - in order to meet the length required for a custom strap.
This makes every hand beaded strap extra Extraa EXTRA special in my eyes.
Every time I cut into a new hide I pause for Another prayer. • Another moment of gratitude • Another acknowledgement of Earth's sweet blessing.
As I write this two red tail hawks fly and screech above my head on our little canyon balcony.
Ahhh....sometimes its challenging to open up and share, especially during such weird times. I don't know how you all are doing, and if you all are having gentle days. Some days I don't know how I'm doing, either. This whole thing can be confusing.
But creating every day, with every ounce of energy I have, has kept me finding a path that returns me back home to myself when I feel far away. It holds me safe when everything else feels like chaos.
So even when I write about guitar straps and question my own sensitivity to everyone's positioning, I also listen to the hawks and check in with my heart and know that ART IS GOOD. At it's very essence art is healing, love, and connection.
The moments I can combine my art with MUSIC is a two-for-one.... a twofer. (:
Music and sound are a whole new world of that same art essence.
Today I praise the overlap. I vow to dance and listen to music all day long as I create with whatever my sore hands have to say today.
And I gently offer that I have fresh hides from our Montana hunt last fall, ready for any of you who are interested in a custom beaded guitar strap.
I wish you all the fullest of Sundays.
With love and light,
Magenta
