"Harvest"
"Harvest"
This piece illustrates the dualism of the meaning behind a harvest. The harvest moon is traditionally a time for planting seeds; however, for this hawk who hunts at dusk, harvest is a time of feeding.
To harvest is to both consume and to create simultaneously – a full circle that is symbolized in the full moon, and is representative of my personal approach to my artwork and harvesting of leather.

I was able to bead about 10 rows in an hour, with just over 1,000 seed beads in this final design. I used cross stitching software to adapt and adjust a photograph of an anatomical heart; then, I just beaded by number from top left to bottom right. I sewed the entire beaded piece onto natural blonde deer leather. The heart was framed by a friend, using 5 different types of beautiful hardwood. Topped with glass and hung by sturdy wire.
